Hello and welcome this disaster french, I you know data is what is it? This is my second leaders sponsoring offline cops, I'm neil patel, I'm for it. Quite frankly, just super hung over journey started here, I'm here with string what yeah Joanna brought food in coffee to diverge, asked them. How happy here there's lots hawk of about and an hour. Oh Tom Warren is on the phone tom, hello, sucker all the time I saw a girl and then just fuck it. Why not? We have a hype council. We have three verge people behind the desk. Kirsten Siena is here. You may know her from previous episodes of the verge cast. Loren grush is here
you may know her from previous episodes. The verge has and kaitlyn tiffany is here. You may know her from viciously sub tweeting me during previous episodes of the broadcast. What's up, what's the hype situation like the high council is like eleven out of ten on the hype scale high council is in session, and I'm like are we doing this is? Is this most people we've ever had on the net. Remember one time we have the entire staff in the right. When we launched the shastri I tried to, and chris I remember chris Sigler was he was so mad at me. because such an emotionally in, like energetically draining experienced like have five microphones and twelve people, and we must ban, we ve never did. I think. Actually you invited me, because you didn't have enough people.
Why? You do invite my idea. Now I hears my manager, I mean how the story, as you may know, Joanna broke up with me and actually too in las vegas here, twenty twelve. I think I ran over my thing and I don't want to I survive when the timing. I hear you and me real life, but not in the microphones. You shoot your building or tom. I don't hear tat tommy, saying anything. I'm sitting here in silence, I think, can surviving the craziness technical emergency and she like some sort of tech expert. oh, it's back yeah. So I don't recall this but showed Janna like I said, broke up with me and it shows two in las vegas airport, the worst place to be broken up with possible. Actually, the breakfast there wasn't that it was fine, but then She has now landed on her feet, this betrayal, at the wall street journal, and today I watched one of her videos. Thank you for doing. That is great great video. I highly recommend it and
myself. Joanna is currently wearing a jean jacket, has a ponytail and is carrying a gigantic laptop computer. I need that when I'm sitting on russia today, you should have brought. I demanded that all those props throughout my office, which is actually not far from here, but I was coming from my apartment, okay, okay, excuses excuses. Why is your denim jacket with the offer you spend the whole show trying to figure out how to use? pan that'll, be fine with me, use my this law Well, the story is to say Joanna reviewed the surface book this week, Tom review the surface book this week. We reviewed the surface pro four this week. Deter reviewed both nexus phones this week, well just to the six b identity a disservice. Referenda in the five acts due to review the sixty the high council just reviewed our behaviour generally added to remove into gorgeous snaps and yeah videos and caitlin did tumblr is What the hell is appended sinners?
all of that to talk about and then in addition to that, youtube launched youtube red subscription service and drake danced. That was a thing that happened on the verge this week and what else happen I guess, there's some chocolate star wars, style, star, wars, installers and there was a star wars. Yeah I spent my week in Laguna beach. Debbie I Shan t live plants. Concert conference felt like a cotton. There was a couple of chimneys angle, template prophecy, apple, tv, yet and wood. promise that apple will save the world when he actually said a lot of really interesting things, and I hugged a robot yeah, a lot of fun stuff yeah. I dunno I'm I'm totally days because I just spent four days at the conference barely sleeping thought. Well, let's start with, like the. What I think is something like the bay seconds: the irish like shopping laptop. Yes, the debtors
Then you must go on in your target. You're driving a car close your eyes in imagined, eater, holding a lot of this painful trout. With this weird hinge. So tom up, we hear and then tell us about europe for us what you I ain't sign. My decent allows railways, but you had some issues. Yapping journals had the same issues as well. We should be full disclosure atomic I'm email the little bit last week about our are issues Email me sent him these issues nose like was like alumna and then two hours later I had the same issue. What was the main issues, that is the blue screen stuff and we might sustain a pre production units, so I guess we'll see if these issues so aptly next week when they go on sale by fifty at a low price greens will and that she, even after the review, so that the issue is the review. Enough
The powerboat but the power button broke on my one: is it because you were holding it down too hard now, but you did it break when you were trying to hold it down, because I've had the I I've had so many of these values. I was doing a person to them, one of them the paper button broke and the other one it blueskin, wait like but does not give the power button break because you are holding it down to reset. Do a hard reset out just tohil. I've had to do such a raising the sweet. Let myself in printed in my finger. Thank really press the button so hard that my finger had the exact like imprint of the power button. In my finger I about the iphone for one second, that happens with iphone, sometimes too, well, there's that hold out some hard. You know when you
I scroll on a phone and doesn't do anything you like push it a little bit right like that's it now, with three d touch now pushing it makes you feel dumber, because if the three touch doesn't work or doesn't respond to you, you're you're, just squeezing a phone hoping something happens, yeah and you feel like you're gonna, break the screen or like you're, that huge, dumb ass, like you're being trolled in literally multiple dimensions anyway, so time. So you had these issues and drama. You had these issues but our surface book, like literally, has a sticker on the back. It's like this isn't fcc certified like. Are they going to solve them by the time these things come out, so yeah that's pretty standard whenever they ship these units out? Is it just to say, cause they've hidden it from the fcc is not officially certified, and so they stick that label in the bank, but I'm beginning to sense of the issues and I'm hoping they're not going to have these issues like when they wrote out next week. I think the issues aside from those blue screens and stuff, and is that yeah, it's a laptop. It's also kind of a tablet
nothing in terms of of the actual issues. Besides like it wobbles the screen. What was how was it wait time? I have a question: how is it possible that I'm hearing the echo of your voice on the skype connection before you speak? I'm hearing imperfect, or it's very strange, I'm hearing the echo after I don't hear areas our toddlers at least two of you. One of you is ahead of the other one figure isn't that essential I'll have a word with the other one that had a tendency to slow down, I'm doing a little bit of the wobble to show it right now time doing I'm doing a wobble sitting in a controller, it does wobble, I mean caitlin, and I we made it. We made a little one of the new instagram boomerangs today with it and caitlin. Can you speak to like that connector? What did you think of that she's? How I felt about it is that I would break it in one day from just one time if you press on the button- and it turns green and
turns on green and I get like pissed and rip it off on green. Give it a got that wrap it up in green for a second turn right again and like not let her take it out and it was like. I was afraid you were going to break it like the time. That's how I took it. I had it for a weekend and literally the whole time. I was like I'm gonna break this thing, but in the sense that, like it's, a beautiful thing right and I tend to break things so as like. Oh this thing is too beautiful for like me to have, but it's so weirdly designed that I feel like I have to have one I mean I should backup I love this computer. Do I when this was working? I loved it very, very much it's like I wanted to be with it, and I read there were times I said. I'm
I'm going to get this from here, then it wouldn't restart, and I had issues- and you know those are really biggest assuming that it out and dime issues. Would you say that, like definitively the best execution of a hybrid device, I was say, the best windows laptop I've ever seen and you know. Actually, really sad about this review, I had gotten out tell the back story here. I'd written my review. I had spoken with Tom. He had some issues. They had sent me a second unit, a surface book unit, because the first one had track pad issues and seven. These blue screen things is that we, we fix, a lot of these things in this new unit, everything was going really well, so I felt like ok, I can really right this review and talk about the great experience. Add I had in there that this was the best windows laptop I'd ever used in the years and years of sort of the scarring experiences I've had from reviewing windows laptops as many of them. I had here
and I had them at and gadget, and I had them at laptop magazine before that, and you wrote. I think china has written the why this is windows laptop, had a shitty, trackpad yeah, I've written it for ten years, like you've just been going to that. Well, yet journalists like I need some beijingers yeah, let's rethink the trackpad I think that they fixed it and I've written this really positive review and then the second surface book I was at the conference. I've been only using the surface book. My macbook air had not been used for about a week two weeks out and it would not restart and it just did the same thing as I had had. I had a surface pro the week before that the hard drive or the ssd completely crashed. Microsoft says this is not going to happen and shipping units is only happened in our early units and but I can't say the best windows laptop I've ever used doesn't start up anymore and so on
it's a kind of dial back the review at the last minute and because I am worried that some of these might make it to customers, and so I will review review it when I get the shipping unit. I do think the execution of this is really really well done. I have a lot of the same issues as tom. You know the the wobbling hinge, and the battery life in the tablet. You know why did this have to be a tablet? Why did it have to be so a laptop but could be because you can dramatically take the screen away and like yeah, it's cool. That's it. I think. That's what it indeed urgent little does a dry once or twice in the entire time. I mean yeah I like tom, have I felt like we really saw eye to eye on that, like as a tablet. This thing isn't great as a laptop. This thing is really good and could be better if it wasn't a tablet, but-
I actually think what we're horizontally better, if it wasn't, a tablet is laptop. What I like in I mean if they are able to fix some of these things that compromise it as a laptop, because it is a tablet, I think it's a home run as a tablet and probably as a laptop at the battery life is an issue with the tablet, but the wobble thing is because this is a tablet right, because this hinge is unique. And I really don't think the hinges as ugliest tom thanks, but he always are. You got no stuff stuck in your computer. You got no buckler tom. I asked often this thing: for what are you gonna? Do you haven't you guys are wholly haven't the bag printings clean out? Why a definite yes, I have, very dirty bag to second option. During his dirty back button
that is not responding. But if you're going to have a three person hype council we're going to level our response was silent, shaky. That was honestly. The first thing I said about this hinge to it was like I can't on that cause: it'll be full of food and garbage day and like chunks of lipstick and stuff from second in my bag like this, so that Europe's hop stranger than everyone else's, but I have no mag, like your bag, is emptier, that everyone is equal ireland time than you, stick it in your bag vertically or her parasol entity, oarsmen, ok and and weird hinge, top number but the point is a poorly organised Joanna's holding a laptop in the various configuration every time I put it in my bag need Pendragon. Totally, I lost my penetrative case, jfk security. Really
and going to be other ones, because I have five other units because they kept on the penguins cause they gonna have the weird. This way, don't know if you're going to have the weird hinge. Why isn't that? Where the pen goes. inside the rising like a perfect place where the pen, so that's requisite fisheries, These are three four year: don't do it? well having cheese and a computer? That's a first. You have to trust a piece of string, cheese inside the service book and we got a again you're sure. So, in your mind, listen, I imagine, but your father, that's easy. Machines, How did you so much? I don't want you she's. My leader, he's getting resurface book cheese time. Do you want a piece of cheese? Did you get the weird rigid? the chief I'm coming till you John. If you can get around ten hours, can we get a whole chicken surface, but she's at hinged hot? Can
like many users, are like auto walk. It just doesn't get that hot. I'm super hyped on the surface. Sometimes sometimes sometimes your tablet have a little bit of a fan noise of playing games on it. This afternoon not really gets, gets the fans going, but definitely has the fans spin up when I've just been. You know what else here's Tom's voice before he speaks it's sometimes very it's okay. I got a tweet about it or tweets about it. I didn't have there's just a side hype council conversation so take your time so learn taking over the show talking amongst ourselves time if they fix, some of these boxing, and by this I see the thing is I e still like the extra spurting I'm hearing I'd I'd tat is my windows laptop of choice at the moment because of the battery and because it is one of the bachelor I from the surface puts great guy now I just
I can't get over the fact that it's top heavy and that the hinge is wobbly like when amusing, my lap. It just feels like it's going to go fully. I prefer this keyboard and trackpad and screen to the I way prefer the keyboard and brad for sure it's just bigger and the spacings bedrooms stuff. That's like really. I want to talk about this trackpad. Is it good or bad?
Well, you know it's not as easy to be said and everywhere, except chrome edge is what I read from the review that well from chrome. Just does not work out with it from does not work well in any computer, but only to fix that worked. So can look chrome but didn't like it. I like to add at what I just said. I had jumping cursors and stuck cursors another thing they said to be fixed in the software update, but the scrolling really good. The gestures are really good and just like it feels a lot nicer than I feel equants. Just lou. Basically look in my book, one yet gloss, tripod, simonis, listen you and the doubt the new dogs vs. If team
had actually works really, amazingly well. So I think this is the year that the windows manufacturers really do solve this problem, because now only if you're willing to spend fifteen under the but like look or microsoft cannot solve this problem. Why would you have any faith that basis could another there? right now. No, I mean my my big point years like this is microsoft's first generation out the door right and like this. Is it like they're killing it already on the first one? Yes, there are these issues and hopefully they will be sorted out, but I don't know why you would buy anyone else's computer windows computer at this point other than the money yeah. I've got plenty right. So why would you buy a surface pro four? I dunno because I want a tablet if, if you want a windows, tablet experience
We love le pen and you just super wanted, but wouldn't you just buy this thing like this thing? Is the the surface for a smaller lighter and you can like carried around and use it as a tablet, but I mean I dunno Dan reviewed this, but like basically looking at this thing, it was they just made a better surface pro three didn't change anything fundamentally about it. That made the trackpad on the the type cover bigger they make the screen bigger, they made it faster and they kept everything else. The same. It's like it's designed for people that have surfaces and that's kind of it yeah and I actually think microsoft is completely mastered now how to make a tablet, a laptop and a laptop a tablet. Obviously there are some there real sacrifices that happen. I think those real sacrifices are actually coming from windows and from the chips that they're using and here I think, had windows RT worked out for them had had windows, then a better tablet operating system.
and tom. I know you ve written about how windows tenders is still not great on a tablet. These devices could be even more bad ass and be sort of what we're gonna know. Hope that, as you know, that I wrote does show you also Venice video did not just address the eighties and then in brackets and what I will say it was an amazing, her hair moment, rear yeah, but you're like this is a whole. This is a vision of the future that out of the future directive, giant internet it get it. Why do you think laptops? Because I know that our children are the future and I think he meant, but let us not tat weird weird I actually think, madam. I had head all the time city, council, Michael Jackson, fans is that he's gotta height I've been using for free will a second. We had this morning, locality the laptop. So the future
if I just say, hotline bling, does that wreck you? I know that if I just say hotline bling does that record is I put a different song in your head now. I literally played four seconds of it earlier yesterday and when it was like fuck yeah, like I know more of the songs like that people have parodied the video with than I do, the actual song. Like the rugrats theme, I saw that the video put africans halfway. But let me ask you this question: do any of you have an ipad any of the three of you have an ipad? Yes, how often you use that ipad? Never caroline! Technology is the bridge gave me this lack of technologies, I'm a bag full of garbage he started in person. I don't have it I'm actually thinking about getting. One, though, will do with any of you guys habit at this moment in time. For any reason, not right now in the light of the universe, not gonna, buy you'd, know technologies for caitlin,
I believe you are working at the rice- should keep workers work. Inner caitlin might not work, none. Why we're Caitlin doesn't do electricity at home nearly all the amish, for some reason came running on that I stand for. interesting cause like Joanna is like laptops of the future thing. If you guys had to buy one thing, if you could pick a laptop, a phone or a tablet which one would you pick a laptop, a laptop really? What if I would pick a phone, you can do everything you can do on the phone on a laptop. a kind of awkward but faster twice, but but what, if that screen on your laptop came off? If I can if I could have an ios device that would flip between the desktop version like if I could have one oes. I can't say all these things right if I could have desktop mac and mobile mac on the same device. I would do that like if I could, when I pulled this screen off, it became
I like an ipad like that. I would love. I would guy that immediate right, but room, and when will you use it, but I have a final windows tenders. Are you pull out and it turns out that, rather than all of that here out here, the problem out now I tabled spoke tom, and I talk about the bulky in heavy. The tablet is kept is compromised right, tat has finally Romana Joanna its digital clipboard I ask that europe works David had already mysteriously network is extremely compromising heavy. It is actually pretty lie it's for why aurelia? It's really why only by a single I'd have here's what here's my reality, I'm drunk with power. I walk around this place all day. Point stop yelling at people really doing nothing of impact in the habit, giant screen and a pen that made it look like. I was even more of a nineteen forties factory manager, that'd be fucking dope,
you need to deal with their actually, I'm afraid therapy. I don't know about that, but this is where it is worth noting that it comes to the really understand, but I think what is the future of these is that we get mobile processors in here and we don't deal with the thickness and happiness of it. We know how we still deal with the west, because the screen is big, but maybe at some point these will like Otto expand and that's going to be my reviewing twenty years, but like those two really do come together because laptop in the future yeah tom. Do you think laptops are the future yeah yeah? I mean, I think, a lot of it's to do with the experience in the apps, so that windows is locked lacking the touchups I like
What someone said a minute ago about combining I was six and ios. That would be a pretty good device, because if you go to the ios apps and the touch ups like that, that would kind of make sense. But on the windows side just like this is called the windows phone brain you're, lacking the apps on the tablet, so I'd say conveying it to a tablet, isn't really something you want to do often because it just doesn't really have the experience that the pendants lacking the the total usage of the panicles windows. I tried to write an email and just draw out like that. You just on and the windows, mail, client doesnt support, and it's like just these basic basic fundamental things. You can use the keyboard if you use the keyboard thing to do that oh. You mean you want to. I just want to play and right now you went to like hand, write and like send it as good as I am itching to just you know those using the pen yeah. I mean, I think it's the same thing with the the the apps, but I only use a tablet pretty much now for two things to read twitter,
news at night and then when I go away, I use the screen to watch like tons of movies read those are like the two main use cases I use for a tablet, because when I read I use an ereader, I use a kindle outside or inside. So here's my problem with the pen stuff in the the digital clipboard mode. You know when you're typing in word and word starts auto formatting shit for you and it gets it wrong every time, but like it's trying really hard to guess right, I feel like that's where they're always going to be with like doing the right thing with the pen and converting from like reading note to write like writing out and handwriting to converting it. The text I'm gonna drawn out like right. I just don't feel like that.
I decided on what the pen should be able to automatically do and all the apps to account for the fact that nothing like directly supports it. I have a question about the the pen. How does it compare to like other tablets and styluses so like like if I had an ipad with like a pencil okay? So I know a lot about this because I tested every Silas last year. You are sketched your drawn by law to the audience you that was impressive, so maybe deed or knows more about this too, by the current ipad doesn't have an active digitize or any kind of active touch screen that works with the current stylus is so basically, they sack yeah right cause they aren't connecting with the screen. You I've had pro from what we ve seen so far. Has a crazy amazing good pan yeah. I editor hansel and Gretel. Sorry tensile. Ninety dollar, pencil hundred dollar pencil. You, like you, guys, tested at the event it wishes. Smooth and fast, like. I think it's, I think I'll be interesting to see how these can. They felt the same to me really like
having played this fur, how reliable eight of the arab play with the I've had profoundly have like it's still like, not real like there's still, ever seen slight, I'm done you Didn'T- have a genuine rode away total but are both very good yeah so, but, like these experiences are far better than what you'd have, unlike any stylus you put on an ipod iphone but closer to what you get on a note you read, I mean it's funny. Has I really again drunk with power, like my dream, is like look at our verge article and drawn out with a pen. Does that's what you that? What ghek rather than it is in the commercials. That's the only they show that while they get data literally my download it's my friends, I would open a virgin circled the homepage and drew the word bad enough.
This is my dream. I guess I'm gonna do else. Besides you one sees that feature like how is it useful to normal people? Everybody wants to be drunk with power outage travelling genuinely like one. Would you wanna drawn, so I actually like this week. I had to prepare for this conference right ahead for big interviews. I printed out as much stuff as I possibly could about all these people had to interview, and I tried to do it on here. At first sight, it was like save the article about them and start highlighting on it, and the highlighting is ok, but it's it's not paper trail like it just came down to you. I just want to have this stack of paper. I want to be away from this scheme. right, I think, there's and then I brought it to a meeting at at the conference and the other guy was like that's actually pretty cool, because then I could just have the notes wherever I want to lose this piece of paper. So like there are these pluses of paper, and then there are these says of paper, and I didn't she said at last year: nobody read it so yeah yeah. It did a piece similar about it, no one without either
is he dead prc? he's resource am already is terrible. Human being the way I do both to answer him through proper. Yeah I asked I just want to say Really. I am very super impressive. What is happening with microsoft hardware here, specifically just with these tom leads, you talking about edge real quick cause. You I saw you tweeting today because edges the the browser like you have to use edge to do all the circling stuff right and you I can't even those topics I mean I can use edge, but I really miss the extensions and the thing that's the same for quite a lot of people who use crime and the extensions on coming into two thousand and sixteen, which is which yeah. They were supposed to be here by the end of the year. There's densities. We are since even using this, do you use google docs or gmail and edge. I don't know because I'm primarily using chrome yup.
It doesn't work. I mean the end, then I try not to use chrome. Does it eats at the battery life and the scrolling so bad, but you have to do for google docs as you can't copy and paste and google docs an edge. They just doesn't work. It's like. I don't want to use chrome on windows laptop because the scrawny is terrible and birch was to adjust the performers and journalists is even on my mac. I've start, using safari is now because the battery life, what you're so badly. What went on tat, safaris, lydia for sure I mean mean most. I had a good opportunity with edge to a kind of reset the whole internet explorer miss. I feel a condom messed up because he's a good browser this is is not finished, is a need to do more to Why am I gonna? Do you like the mail client for windows, tat having your crazy person, geneva life gmail for life is way better than the windows live mail yeah?
I mean here are the apps that I'm really missing to go to windows ten full time. A really good lightweight photo editor, not photoshop and like yeah, but like has advanced tools, a really good twitter client. and that's, it actually well get ready for a flood of matches from photo editing. But what do you feel like you mastermind from for mac for mac? I missed some of the touch the trackpad customization, like all like bits of aged, just like, especially on the magic mouse. When I just flick my two fingers up on the mouse and it does more volume up and down like a miss, been able to, wants to do that sort of stuff and customize where that three finger swiped as in windows ten, but you can't really go beyond what they tell you. The free finger tap yeah, I do not like eyes had been super productive on windows using this machine.
Yeah, yeah, yeah yeah, I mean, I think he just misses a few things and local knock a work. Related thing I can this lacks able black hawk images and resource images right right? Well, they need like us vote like ice pick. Small later on picks civil, later accelerator, snowy, epics molitor. That's what do you say: excellent! Her pics examiner pixel meter pixel later. I think it is This is a good time to tackle its where in terms of on research. The lie many by the way for the audio listener. Lauren is squinting at her computer and saying numbers like I dunno that looks like thirty stars in the sky. Eventually they like stop. They like go into like the ad like more section, so I don't even know how check your slack room channel number whatever that is. Can I like it? It's good, that's amazing. So slack was down for me for like half an hour today cause I messed up my two factor and I was lost. I was I was like. Oh my god, how do I do And I hate it- I hate being spoken to know every once in a while, like I leaned across the desk, to Caitlin just across from me, and I'm like hey kayla and blah blah blah blah and she's, like she pulls out her headphones she's like alright cause, I'm busy listening to one direction and making our tumbler that's all I do all day. I remember when slack
Went down her wet, like thirty minutes, that one day and like we all talk to each other for a really long time, and it was really special. I remember I was to hear the couch someone like hey more this thing, when we do. We it's like each other from like fifty feet away all day yeah today. This is an embarrassing anecdote about management's. Today we had a meeting in which we discussed how people don't talk in meetings, and one of the reasons that I came up with was because slack has stunted all of our development like we actually don't know how to talk to each other unless it's not any different than like ircc that we used to have because everybody that didn't grow up there. She uses it now. Oh yeah, every it's like. Imagine if everybody is dire, see that's like it's like you, I mean I will deal with that farmers. Would these yeah! Well, you remember, I see you are officially owed we're
it's not like that all days when workers like fifty years old, fifty years old times, it's actually is bronze. Also like fifty years all day just looks incredibly on top and hence a man. There is really awesome scar. What it don't. I talk on the phone. A lot like if I, if I'm, if I have like a issues, your old, I definitely know I saw SAM shepard tweet the other day that he thinks phone calls have come back. They should. I that's another column. I want to write I started my fault. If everybody else got pager would you the phone calls, are not going to that phone calls are not going to come back. Maybe video calling will come back, but we're not going to go video, Claudia, went to come back with concern and I guess you come into its like fullest. I mean a lot of my friend hunting knife and stuff and like a huge portion of the way, the people who are in college right now. Keep in touch with their friends is like super long like to our skies.
whenever we plant life, I'm always like, but do they look into camera than the time in the sometimes individually. Just like there. You look into your camera leg at the beginning leg, and then some people would like to launder. Do stop but you're like talking to the person it's like you're hanging out with them, but if someone can make that actually like, I know that there is like this time I like it that doesn't work for everyone. If someone ready for these kinds of calls, you know you don't want to look like a scrub when you're on a video call dunno. Somebody you get over? It is it's like not a big deal like me and when my cousin, I like I describe how powerfully caitlin is rolling. I like to make sure she's about to flip fully over, I like to make sure I'd like heroin. I crossed for years, like almost every human being alive, in my opinion, sorry Tom know what we're talking about here,
Whatever man we're going to talk about the nexus found a minute, but I thought we'd give the hype council had a moment. I haven't even seen that the next response I actually sought at google a couple weeks ago, but not like, three of them. Even six. We without facts right then, has five acts. If he's, then, if you watch when I went to my gown might as well, that matters will just joined the virtually everyone or those there's, a guy, just tweeting bad bad screenshots me from compressed with history anyway, so dear to us it is the best android phone you can buy right now. You think so I do was that, because it has up to date, clean software It won't you gonna she's. Looking Google now could look at it. Good brilliant go back, I'm going there anymore, inoculated employment hook Indeed, the middle of has held a lord. I will say that.
Haven't made about foresee. Never looking up a lock on the phone can we do? a lot here. Let's do this at lock it so I can get back and I think you're print of canada, ok anyone's international art pattern, it it had its the best offer you can get on entered from. Yet it is five bucks to start for three took a version which is a good price. It is in that court, premium. Category has really a camera, so I can testify I think this someone came at the issue. We are slow, the hd are slow, but otherwise the care, if you turn off hd or the cameras, pretty fast
If someone came at me and said, none of the note five is better or just eating snacks. For now I would let them make that case to me when I see a picture of the headcount, but I think I don't want to kill everyone to see. I think that I only want the five five x five x is notably slower, slower, yeah, see and also it feels like shit here yeah, but it's it's hot. I know like so like when we first looked at the five everybody's like. Oh, this is boring and dumb, and then everybody turned out over the year or so to like fall deeply in love with it, yeah? I like a sexually well, it's big, but everybody likes big phone, some areas, and then, over the course of the year like man. This thing is just Yet there are right so denature dealers in doing that.
impression that extra sex for a week, yeah he's like sixty like cars make things are funny right. That's just my theory, and so you know that's funny. I can't say for sure that the next starbucks is going to look terrible in a year from now. My hunch is that it's not going to age all that. Well, like I want that size with that build. But canning sounds like that speed Can someone holding you unless we around freely access plus on average, we are. Democrats will arise to their success plus, although the success bus is a tiny bit short, weenty teensy relate ordered, it feel smaller than my success, but is it easier to hang onto burden that sixty six p seems like it's not like a slippery? I mean besides, I don't feel like. Aluminum phones are super, as everybody else on the planet seems to maybe I've just got like spiderman hands.
I mean it's ugly in very specific. There are some specifically as like a hammer. Strap is better because canisters, rather than we always and everywhere else in the camera strip out of here with a heavy heart, sank like there's just like a whole section in this corner, where it just like someone has drunk you alex drawing the phone again at some more lines, its huawei? You know, there's only one producer imputed early designed that Syria, if only heard no did but in what way, make one particular beautiful phone like actual phone. the made us, which I mean scientists think there's no act which is, and I thank them we got an iphone know, we've got no, never mind said nothing, but the. I think there is really no other reason at this point to buy any android phone other than an excess yeah, I mean like the only one that I would right now:
this thing like. If you wanted to get in essex because it smaller, I got a town. If you wanted to note five cause, you want the stylus go to town basically anything else like nope right. Here's, the only the reason I say that about the nexus is because of the software update, updates and also now all of the integration that they've got with the fingerprint sensor and all of the other Google goodness that happens, because Google's really involved with tap is terrible right. I mean look at it, but I like it to get misread and address a perfectly. matter the address it was unable to read it, but this congress was able to look up a restaurant named tray, because I
The addressed sets me by our per executive producer, traced, outworn, like it got tray and but the wrong trading area. The rest for I love it for adding calendars like counter stem. It just works so much faster than like. Even and I asked when it's like China, gas that account. I thank your memory touches better does, at least you know, there's a link that'll do something I think actually now and tat with. Greedy touch would be great where the hell, I don't, even know how that works, you would be able to hit what you're looking up and now on tap. Neither can do other thing, yet Is that right cause they want, of course, because even if we can't read your data well, plus apple doesn't want to present you with more than one option and by the way, I'm like ourselves. I'd want it to be Google, it's not gonna happen yeah, but Google may mean I dunno it's android right, like you, gotta, think somewhere. There's like a samsung engineer and he's like off. I gotta make three touch now: yeah like they're, going to do it and they'll just like make a crap version of it and like four versions of android for now and just be an android and that the android lifestyle
yeah, but you don't like it even when it's like I mean I just maybe it's like more of novelty, but it's like if you're listening to something or so It's not going to buy this phone. I actually did it it's just it's. So rarely kids, like things that I know it ought to do. It has only a fifty percent hit rate and If that's not enough for me like, oh, I wonder what, on top of do right now, that'll be interesting. It's just if, if you're, if you don't get the stuff, you should get half the time, I'm going to stop using you, which is just like spray. Just like a lot of standard hand when dieter has a trial. you think you're done head you suck at math and we're not talking, I mean if you guys played at this. You think I'd check to check the six p. The six p is like definitely the best android phone that I've played with the build is really nice and for me, naked iphone.
Success plus that I can see the ice from here, because I can't hang onto it, I see so for me, it's like I phone is really cool if now, on top, actually worked like more than fifty percent of the time, I would really consider seventy five percent of iphones down the line here. Yeah, okay, so actually a really hard question yeah. What would make you buy a surface book and what would make you switch your android phone or android phone next, because I think brand loyalty is a disease and I want to buy another iphone just to buy another iphone. I dunno anything about those great answer: different.
I know see I'm probably like your worst nightmare cause. I just don't want to worry about it, so I just stick with the same phone. Each time like and get a new update. You know that you have what I believe is known as a disease called the phone whatsapp. How often do you get a new phone, probably every two to three years, but it's like I just don't want to make it a huge deal. So I just get the next iphone cause. work for me in the past, so anyway I've space toward him, how you guys, but all of them Is it okay? So here's the thing I mean, I'm gonna read one we're at and then I actually want Lorna give us some space news cause she's. Here she's our space reporter in detail, and you can say something else, deeply depressing about being young america, yeah, either.
what you know I, the genes, love it's fuckin sob. Software is back everybody. I dunno. If you are thinking about a cloud, the cloud is built for transparency, say about this, and you look Joanna I'm going to address this. I know. Do you know who own software? You know when I surprise you, when I think about Joanna stern, think about her unique computational workload, and I think we have the fact that my friend Joanna deserves cloud resources that meet her specific needs. Software DA one of the only cloud providers have provisions dedicated servers and virtual servers, otherwise known as a public cloud from a single seamless platform. All this is on demand. All that is connected. The same opening vi. All of is connected to a global private network, which I think we all know the teens appreciate. All of this allows you to scale your workloads up and down quickly, for presumably your one direction, bittorrent server and you have ample space resource intensive task software
surprised, ibm company, I've, any software as it's crown infrastructure foundation for all I VM products and services. So, if you're not looking for infrastructure, because your basic, you can benefit from software and when you use platforms or software software software services from ibm club, peters just drawing drawing on its tablet. Wildly now so here's what you need to do. I need to figure out your life. Get your business started, get on software and then go to software dot com, slash podcast! You have five hundred dollars off your cloud infrastructure. You can order bare metal servers. You can order virtual servers, storage and networking and security services a priority of show cd
software has twenty four data centers around the world. All the services and services are connected to the unique network of networks which connect, separates public, private and management traffic and train the traffic to and from your cloud infrastructure, travels more efficiently. You might think that I suck at these ad reads and I do, but you are damn well listening to see what kind of car crash we're going to get into here in that car crash will be powered by software automate and control your cloud infrastructure of the grandma poi or the easiest software customer portal. So please, for god's sake, it has to be working because they keep buying the ads visit software dot com, slash podcast, get your five hundred dollars off of servers, storage, network and security on the cloud built for transparency, I always find from here it says: user's discretion. I never read it because I dunno it'd, probably anyway, whatever software to accomplish for the sixty nine people, just follow me for being famous. Oh my god. I think it's because I was being in the birch cast and also I just like to say a lot of people.
really like browser in your browser dot com. So thank you for visiting brows nor answered unattractive spike waiting. In a letter examiners, whereas for if I log into square space, you can actually then one of the benefits of the euro area and those worst case right now, just like by river. We- bitter in your area, the effective use of it. It's like I tested three or four different. I know ships blown website building two events. Airspace was in fact one of the best ways rather high council. Here Tom I want see this. I want one more little piece of time before we go. It's a beautiful website, china. I know I got belonging to me and give me some space is the fun thing. Is we're getting an asteroid to fly by earth on halloween ooh, that's fun and ask it nicely on bribes.
Like. I wanted despise things up does holiday, so I got an ash is really something mickey strew. Only if you wanna be super cliche sorry I just saw somebody headlines that are alike trick or a I get it back it's a pretty big and we just found out about it last week. So that's a little scary, but it's not going to hit us at all. It's just going to come really close like one point three lunar distances which is about what so yeah just really close. It's like as close as the moon. What's the lunar distance, it's three hundred thousand miles. That's really cool! It's pretty close! It's not gonna hit us up, but this happens all the time I mean we get near earth asteroids like hundreds each month, and the only thing that's special about this one is that it's kind of big for the norm.
sure, as you get and it's getting pretty so, but we have nothing to worry about, but I wanna get in situation are women. We're not in any arrogant. Do I have to try to marry bristles his daughter now or later now, like stay away from various countries enshrined in coventry. Rumour holiness but I didn't learn about what different sizes of ash reads like how much they would destroy life on earth this week, so this ash right, if I were to his it, only wipe out like a continent I figure we say in our continent and just hope for the best yet, but the worst, the ones
You have to worry about either the one kilometer asteroids there like a thing. Sorry for the conversion needs over three thousand feet. Those are the ones that their ahead as they like, wipe out the humanity. So that's the want. Those are white like nasa is more concerned with this. One is just smaller than that which is common protest. Gotta go to destroy contact europe watch out, you have a credit card Kalen, if if our continent was to be the shredder wholly, and how would you spend your last days x, I am going to see spring awakening we are you so prepared for this close to call, and it's great I've been stealthily and starting broadway coverage into the verge dot com. That stealthy, I like to pretend that its very sneaky anyway, I'm going to see that he is the call alright we've just got a couple of minutes left tom. Is there anything else that we need to talk about? We haven't talked about star wars
The israeli government has done all that time. I wish I d this entire? Relying on italian judge? Even you can do what you are. What you want to tell you that I worked. Our words are re. Just not like me to be an outcast. I think star wars, andrei there's a great vine of trick dancing months. I liked the vine of him with the playing we you better owns, began youtube. We haven't touch with youtube, which one needs to watch youtube or youtube, really fast, yeah. Alright, we we started late. We can. We can go a couple theater. Let's a take us to youtube. So there is a new thing you to read a camel driver. Egypt, when I see big deal with some ten bucks a month and you get rid of ads and you get access to some exclusive content from youtube quota called creators, but not that much beauty pie
make it like a horror, show or something with it, created a walking with the greater the walking. But that is not actually important. Fame porn thing is ten bucks a month you get rid of ads and the people that make you tube get a cut, but it looks like it's a small cut, but we don't know how much of a cut- and you too, that saying the important thing yet whether the money is, I think, from my perspective, it's like the consumer perspective. It's like you, can background play this. Songs you can download them offline You buy an iphone yeah so like if you're playing the video on your phone and you get a text message. You want to respond to the text message but keep listening to the video. You can go to your texts and keep listening to the video and then pop right back we ve been able to give any irate array sort. The other is the other offline is yellow key one yeah right
is youtube like beginning to understand that they actually run a social network and music streaming service and not just like a video prayer well and that they, if they wanted to, they could like compete with hulu and netflix in an online videos and not about flicks. Has now have done yet and is a huge deal. The only other streaming video person that does download is amazon primary now and, like that's a huge deal in the city like if you're gonna be on the subway you most of the time, don't have coverage and like as far as data, that idea that you can download youtube videos and then go wherever you want still play them is a huge deal. I mean for me at least where'd. You watch, you would want you to run somewhere. I would watch so much youtube on the subway. I have so much you too, but since I started this job, I can't keep up with like people who do weekly videos,
and I have like hours to catch up on and I would watch it all on the subway. I guess that's not how I think about you, guys, they're just now, they're just competing to dramatically pull their surface books apart, theaters way better at what you do. Is you you, you put it on there I lifted up by the thing was attached to the laptop drops to the bottom: doesn't drop? when you re attaching some one of you is break something that's all Can I say: is there anything else he hides its detached and then you attach it magically pick up the banks with it. It's like sampling silly as might you know, you'd try tried so hard to santa also, and if you do you to bread dont, you also get google play music. I just point out that what's happening, I should now like to very senior very experienced. Brilliant technology of yours are just picking up laptops and looking for themselves, do not doing anything else there, just
our leaders is making it talked in order, I clearly minds it's ok strings I don't know. Nothin includes play I would like to too how sad is Google play music right now? Yet so it's not for me No, I'm! Ok, worry language came if it came free with the ninety nine, but it is well yeah. I just youtube music. He is turning into this thing, so I think the key thing about like Heaven, I want you to this whole hunting. I hear it includes google play music yeah right lily recently has tabled some all music, and, although you need and that's why it's compelling to me right now- selling boat, they wonder. What's of Why? What yet know? But why don't they? Just combined google play music with youtube the vision,
the big problem I have with youtube streaming. Is I don't want to stream a video right? That's a lot of data that I don't want to. I don't want to be white background in offline, because you can. It will stop streaming the video to your phone when you away from every bit of us download them like at some point your in your data for video when you how you could do that. I feel that it includes Google plain we sure about this yet because which is exactly what ben said to the show, the the the the the story that Ben got from youtube was they did music key and you can take all the ads off of music and then all their users were confused because they're like why doesn't take all the ads for all of youtube and there's lots of music on youtube that wasn't part of music key but as otherwise licensed. But it's not like part of the official like official counts and whatever, and so they like, they had to figure out how to go all the way and remove all the ads from all of youtube. But what's real
interesting, and I think this is like the fastening part. Is there like this one factor? Advertising businesses all because youtube is so big that you could literally add every late night tv viewer to one hundred million people, and it still wouldn't like be more than one or two percent of the total volume, which is crazy. So I think is two things about this youtube red stuff and the first one is excusable. Tapping happening a certain generation, I a people who do watch Pewdiepie right right right. Well, you know, like the kids, are growing up they're, not watching live tv. They didn't care about that stuff. They don't care about cable, they care about they care about youtube celebrities. So I think it's them tapping to that place. Also if evening paid with each eve over the past like year. Yes, so many adds now absurd. It's gotta be even more as a result of this size youtube monetizing in a big big way. Am a definitely a generational thing, but that's and that's why there are originals. Look I'll! Look at garbage right like that that
epi show looks terrible the there's another one lily saying like there's all these youtube stars and what they did was. They said well cause here's what's happening, youtube started, making it big on youtube, and then the tv companies are showing up and saying leave you to make tv shows with us, because we're desperate for young people to watch our stuff they're, making a great suite of Broadway musicals. and now I'm I was looking at troy forever. You look so sad. It's like it's called doctor horrible. Everyone in this room waiting in london, wait what the internet musical doctor. I am super aware of the critical see live. No, I'm saying that like internet musicals is like knives, and that is a they. How many negatives just use that sentence Is it because it is totally a luxurious. Also workshop might lead us, not not. I mean really racked with anyone has won, and I will do my best
supply of many more theatre nerds on this, as there are a lot of peter nerds in this room right now. These relations, three yeah you can kinda really like spectacle over there. I do us, I mean, as a as a as a Why you gotta you gonna secret bitter nerd. Over there, you don't realize you yeah, yeah, moving on. I don't follow you too. We had a rap. We found a funny to harm, had a good one guards on finisher that I was just saying it's a generational thing. The whole youtube lead stuff is just like. My dog does not care about celebrities that, like her about brett, she cares about youtube. Celebrity yeah. That's that's just
gonna, be the future yeah. That's what I'm saying is. I think this is it that's exactly right, but I think what is happening is youtube. Didn't have another place like the only if you're youtube star, there's no other revenue model for you other than like add impression. Money in asia was saying here's another revenue model. To add. On top of that, you really use crinkle anyway.
Anyway. The stars have to agree to it on the philistines, but you've had to run around. Remember there there's a big scandal like that as well, but the new deal is like you're in or you're out with the new stuff you're, either running ads and making money or you're. Not you can't do what the like current, like previous situation, was where you could choose to monetize and like kind of write, make more granular choices. You don't have that option right. Well, actually, what I think is really interesting. I watch a bunch of watching a bunch of youtubers lately how many of them have just subtly integrated product placement and branded content into their streams, which is not in like outset that you're not allowed to do that. Like youtube's rules say like if you're going to do it, you have to tell us when you'd like it's not allowed, but everyone's doing it because it's impossible to monitor. So I actually find it really hard to know on youtube.
What is bought and let us not because so many people, I love whatever like hell of this product, and it is a real like there's, really there's no tracking, underneath it in that has become the shadow seconds on snapchat. When you see someone mentioned a pact on snapshot, it's extremely hard to tell if they got sent it or if they actually like it. I followed a fashionable, but with a lot of these flights, from what I understand from like social media influenza, outreach and stuff like that, it's not always paid yeah just get the products for free recommends. You can't tell it's like: did they get the product for free? Did they by re? Are they getting it for free, getting pink a lot of it's a lot of people get their product free yeah, and I bet you never know, there's just this weird yeah. While we live, we we all live in a world of our journalists, very clear boundaries that squarespace and what is trish. I am not paid by squarespace
I'm a journalist happen to like their product and actually hatred and isolation. They say about which literally slick spiked paper, my squares pay site its natural me, controlled and background it's great. I gotta be wearing the fit it If you're watching, you know what's happening, I know it's happening and if you're watching this architects are walking through or are there explore expanding the company so they're looking at it so, like literally like we just got looked at like fish in an aquarium to like, and this is where podcasting happens. There are some argue tat inside your eyes and a sheet of paper that argotic needs is surface. But, yes, architects are perfect for surface. has there been so many servants are ripe, half arose I type programme. I think those are really where this market is like, like that's. The definite of you will use almost all the features that this product s major an architect. Yet
Well, you can as a deterrent architecture I tweeted generating recognising that only if you are an architect I am looking for an architect, so I would be very belonging to an I'm deuce working on some things. I look like a form of just peripheral island, is our reasons that we want to meet in architecture. You just maybe quote the december arrests, which I would like to thank braintree. responding to this data, so the virgin s brain tree,
It gives you a stack payment solution. Support for all payment types of customers might want. You can start accepting. Android pay apple, pay, paypal, bitcoin, venmo cards, whatever snacks is just a single integrations, like you just type some words on the computer and you get paid it's their superior fraud protection as customer service is fast pads. Please, my god. Just visit, braintree payments, dot com, slash the verge cast, that'd be cool. I think everybody on the hype council should give us one one social, follow yeah. What so yeah you should follow the real voyage on snapchat, because I run that account and it's pretty awesome wait hold on. Can I got a request? Hype check Hamilton what came in I'm close to them? Okay
Okay Hamilton will make you feel better about america about democracy, about like about the accessibility of of like great art. It will make you feel better about everything. Okay, so just like just like go like hang out, we've hit a lottery ticket arrest. Do what you wanna! Do may I wish all of you think that you have you surely good about? Isn't everything else is dark and graham, except for this in one direction there is, nobody has ever been exposed to either hamilton or one direction who was like, I feel upset afterwards. There like this, have enjoyed the industry and to my heart. is how you feel, but I think Tyler episode channels, channel verge dot, tumblr dot, com, nice and yeah tamara, and both do that. You should follow verge teens our team birds at teen, verge, actually urge its somebody who runs a thrill.
Yeah. I don't know they arise and I it's my conduit into like team culture these days with russia, Somebody, nor let my god, where spared no we also find of our pod gas and we got a bunch of em on itunes, dotcom last words that includes us verge, yes, p about her team and science, culture, what's tech and, of course, control or to let you know there s weeks in transit, which went up just before the it's really good. as walt. Doesn't like the steve jobs movie. I didn't either and I want to talk to him about it cause I think you should. I think it was terrible, but walt like walt pulled the trump card which is like. I really knew Steve jobs like very oh hello, benson Annie, I told me a bunch of really top stories and that show this week how colony?
he's gone straight yeah. I read that, yes, I won't revealing aims were already lost, as very important people have response that column and said this is real and also empty hammer treated it today. So that was a thousand. Fun moment in the verge, like what's more virgin, was writing about steve jobs getting promoted by mc hammer? That's our website, everybody mc hammer. Did he have a relationship with steve jobs? Who knows. Interesting, I would I would that's how much look, even though these harry don't hurt him. That will stick man, that's our shared Where is dangerous? Toys placed striving than happened here? Please don't ask us what efforts. right and wrong by IRAN.
