I suggest you pause here and go listen to that first in part You heard about the disappearance of twenty eight year old, sol ramirez, He was seen by friend driving on his way to collect this two year old, daughter from her mother's house that was the last citing of south. Into his estranged wife. He never made it there to pick up their daughter, Sophia, police and fear. They were well aware that a court hearing was just days away, worse,
was expected to receive full custody of his daughter sophia, but because I had vanished. The hearing was cancelled in south ex wife gained full custody she and new fiance, packed up a sofia and went to california, sir, His family members were worried about the safety of the baby and they began to petition for custody themselves. I'd like to go back little and give you some more clarity over the families concerns for the baby safety, my go south did not want Sophia about ruth. I didn't you boyfriend upholstered, to determine the disappearance because roots mom brought
sophia to where we were living at the time and apparently Sophia was covered in bruises and according to ruth's mom robert, which is Ruth's boyfriends or husbands. Name now I hit the baby, so she was two at the time and my aunt Bertha who you spoke to. She was here when that happened, and she actually was the one to call the police and then there was this whole investigation on the roof and that's how that chocolate after services got involved and then there was like a case put against them. There was a sagacious into that. I saw in the police report that at the end of that august, they said that that could have been from
fall, but she took on a driveway, but my uncle sal and my parents and my aunt and everyone who kind of looked around at the time. They didn't believe that at all so to this day, they still believe that he was just abusing the baby. So those with allegations that that came straight from ruth's mom and that's how that came about, and ah she works. So little- and I was talking to my aunt, my aunt Berta- who remembers a lot about that part of sofia life because it was so traumatized link to my art and the family with how ugly things were getting with ruth and my uncle. How Sophia, which have nightmare or she would just pull her hair out, but she was really real attached and really close to my uncle and obviously Yang have expressed before that. My uncle just adored and loved loved his daughter, I think, even to the end, he he still loved ruth, because he just
did. He did a lot for that woman. The problem was with sow's ex wife and her new partner. Now in california, this made things very difficult for the family. My aunt was trying to petition and was trying to get custody of sofia a little after that after my uncle vanished, because my aunt my uncle I believe she was unsafe, but she wasn't she shouldn't, be she shouldn't be with that woman, but I think ca. Her lawyer advised her to just stop pursuing the full custody just start pursuing to try to get custody sophia, because it s almost like it, they will lose it because which her mother and she deserved to keep all rights and you and be with her mom, so the family dropped the petition for custody and the three of them, including Sophie never return to yunkers.
Far as anyone knows, they ve never come back from california. Here's Bertha speaking about her attempt to gain custody of Sophia fair, my brother I fear we need dawn she sophia anymore. I went to core unaids right. They pushed study of Sophia me and my husband. We try to do for a long time almost for a year and then one of these days they should declare told me he knew a good person. You have a really nice. can you use your stay away from all these, because these cannot be abuse, gave an ear from in happen, she fell down or something then they going to accuse. You like through abuse, have punished. That's what I'd recommend
I need them that you are going to win the case because you are like, I knew not they give the study and grandmother or viral, but none the less when sell them. Peered his niece Deanna was just a young girl, but She grew older. She began asking questions about her uncle. Who was he what happened She became concerned that after twenty five years, no one any idea what had happened to him and even the police have. Our fears that some sort of foul play had occurred. She has seen the pain the her mom and the rest of cells. Family have endured over all these years over twenty five years, without any closure sal son raoul, told us what he thinks happened to the father. He never had a chance to me. In my opinion, everything I guess everything would point towards something might have happened between.
The ex wife her at her new husband who is because. It is very ominous energy surrounding that whole than hope situation. Especially down. You know. Why would they also disappear? and it was just too many things to more could have been over and if I could have also been, for all. I know it could have been a much more personal issue regarding regarding them just because, ah you know, couples going through a custody battles all the time and rarely ever does it end up in a situation like the, This younger generation has taken the reins to help their family. Try to find answers for sal you for us for my family now me being able to colonel read the report. Listen to what's going on it's just now. I don't buy it
I don't buy another with some sort of foul play. I must say that it with them. I'm not. I think it is time. I just think that it's worth take Look into it and, like I said, like I called the police, the yonkers pd, they haven't called me back and I don't know what other avenues I could take. What we can do, if anything, but I mean so that's that's kind of where we are right. Now I had a fuller request. In order to get this fully support, and luckily had it because when I called they say that they have a really bad allied like a loving,
here's ago, and there was no way to tell em they couldn't problems that they could find anything up locally. They did. I got the from the male one day, but then they directed me to a different division, which was this number. They just gave you and suppose we, these are the people who look into cold cases missing persons. I let the message with them to my suggests and saw, but all I got was kept promise you anything has been so pole extent of cold, kate, but inactive, but I promise I'll call you back today or tomorrow and I haven't here from anyone that girl we can have about. The family has been devastated by the fact that they were never able to see baby Sophia again once his brother, Luis spoke of sounds daughter? He discover not having seen her for twenty five years? How would he reckoned nice her. Now she been in their lives. Sal was around but after he disappeared, she did too
the Ramirez family is very large and they feel like their missing too big pieces without sal or so fear other than assuming she still in california. They have no idea where she is. I don't know where they are now. I know that after my uncle thousands appearance, What was in allowing my mom, my art by other aboard to cecil fear, and I saw some documents that my aren't, how their production, where roots mob, actually file, to get some politician. I could breathe, wouldn't even allowing her own mother. He does, he feel fear I guess doing my own due diligence like I did find that big all packed up and we'll pick up and left to California, no one in the Ramirez family believe sowed disappeared willingly. They all believe that something terrible happened to him.
I think there was foul play. I think he was set up. That's why I believe and the night, but that's what my whole families, but because it's been at a standstill and no one's gonna again can you believe people? I dont know what other information they could gain if anything, but I know I've, I feel it like in my bones about that's what happened cause there's no way my uncle would loved his his daughter. He was worth He was doing everything he could to get full custody of his daughter and he was about to get full custody of his daughter and the switches right. So so sad that my uncle never got to see his daughter grow up, never got to meet us on Raoul.
All of our lives are so different. Now I don't even know like would have happened with with raul know. My my cousins are a great guy he's a great man, but you know he deserve to have met my uncle sal and in so to Sophia the I I'm to tell you about this game that I recently started playing its called june's journey. The original police reports state allegation of abuse of Sophia at the hand of south estranged wife's new partner, which they were on both to substantiate he was to carry a gun, worked for, guaranteed, for night delivery company and through his fathers moving company had access to trucks and trailers. He did, however, have no criminal passed when he was interviewed by police. They were
where did that he was belligerent and of noxious and was receptive to their inquiry. He did finally agreed to take a polygraph. Test regarding the abuse allegations which he passed We also found that sells ex had lied about the time line of her fair. She had said: did that she met her new partner after the separation, but police force information to be false. One of the detectives at the time detective, sergeant vargas had conducted interviews described in original investigation reports that sells acts was mentally unstable and her new partner. a person who would resort to violence and could target cell with such behaviour. Detective sergeant Vargas noted that sound was either simply missing or something had happened to him. Meanwhile, the
Emily was still trying to make sense of south disappearance softer he disappeared. That was it whenever we never heard or saw Sofia again that that was definitely hard hard on them. I know my mom said that I took a few weeks, maybe even minds I'll, because you, we'll bring them to your apartment. Where we were on, he had his own bedroom. There was one room to of all of his belongings. Were there so she kept everything there for months and then and then the gas one day she just decided she just did it up
clear things out and- and I know that was tough on her- she she does. She remember that day and me being a thinks six. She was in his room and just crying going through things, and she asked me if I remembered seeing her that day and in in his room going through his belongings printings in bags, trying to send him back to colombia. I don't remember that day, but she says she remembers that day. Clearly there was. It was hard on her. That was hard on her to finally accept the fact that my uncle wasn't coming back. This is really tough, about picks up the fact, but it wouldn't can be back speaking with detective geiss. He shed some light on situations like this one were children have grown up past? We not even fully aware of their history. So daughter, may have no idea any of this even occurred. He has unable to work the case yet, but he has every belief that the end there are out there. I guarantee
she's, was a lot of by her and her stepfather, and why she probably never reached out a wanted to reach out to find out who over the family is now I wish I could get on a plane to angle down affair, diego in and try to talk to her. We get a dna sample from her that is not enough right now maybe later on down, align, provide knowledge that in the cards, if you talk to urge you wanna talk to you you could tell us she gimme, you give up my number and I've been one of well women to talk to How shall I mean I'm hoping that she would want to do that? So I mean, if you talk to her, more than willing to talk to her and and pick her brain and get a dna sample from there are you. I would love to shop, found detective
this had more to say about where the case sits. Now I just got this case just a little while ago, while I don't even know if it's going to be assigned to me, but I do have it or you don't want. This happened back in ninety three. So of course it was designed for someone back. Then a body hasn't been discovered until we don't know where actually any foul play might have occurred at this time please confirm that they spoke to everyone. They could at the time, including sir a strange wife but its clear. This could be didn't you again and just south family who have trouble reconciling what happened to him. I mean a lot of times it cause or found at the airport. but what a little bit odd here is, you know? Yes, there was an ongoing dispute between him and her in it, they were separated here, child custody, and there were
allegations of child abuse with the ex wife's boyfriend. This case does sound odd. If that you know about missing person, but just because a car was found at the airport, I mean if I was going to pretend someone's going someplace, I'm going to park their car at the airport. You know what I'm saying Like I said, I do call cases and I've been very busy, so I really haven't had a chance to speak to us. My boards filled, and I got I'll go in so why haven't had an opportunity to speak to the family and it's gonna be a little while who I get a chance to speak to the family. But yes, it is strange. This case I am, I think, the strange it is very suspicious, like I said with us, it's the missing person more soon the unit. Here they get get him while very early in the investigation. Ghosts they felt very suspicious detective did do a good job. He did all lived, a view which any did contact port authority
but a couple times and he was unable to get any really cooperation from them from back then I mean now. It will be easier because you is all over the place, but back and ninety three that was never heard of and you know, here's a worked up at their. He worked up in the white plains, raspy at a good job and never picked up a check. He didn't pick up his jacket. Vienna. Why would he leave and leave money that it's just doesn't make sense, Anna spoke about how she began helping her family. So many years later, my sister, my cousins- and I we always talked about my uncle honest to god. It wasn't until my son was born that I kind of felt like this like motivation. I just I just felt for my uncle the love that I feel for my son and the love that he I'm sure, and I know he thought or severe, then taken her away from him like that,
I would hurt me that, would that would kill me. So I started talking to my aunt my cousins and we were just kind of got going back and forth, and I I had no idea about me miss my sister was when I mentioned the mississippi. So I was gonna work on one day and I'm gonna name is, and I'm like. Looking for information, there's no case number there's nothing on my uncle in there, and there was no no case ever entered for him and in that system, and then, when name has got back to meet you and they want more information about my uncle somebody's okay, great we're we're getting somewhere now, even if it's twenty six years later, we're doing something about it, Deanna and Raoul. The sun that sound never got to me feel that if anything positive has come out of this issue, in the ability for them to connect and grow their relationship as cousins raw? all indiana connected because when she heard from name S and the topic of dna relatives came up, it gave her, push she needed to take that step and reach out. This me miss
this kind of reached out to me and ass. If there was any one that was willing and able to have any children that could consummate dna testing. That's the first time that I've action had a conversation with my cousin about his biological father. My uncle sumter me. his mom rosa that a wonderful man who raised my cousin Raoul at his own, so you can't taken aback he kind of didn't really know much, because I dont think that rules are really spoke to him about what happened by his dna into the database, they have. able to move that registration forward. Since the time of record, our interview with yonkers police. So family has been able to go in and speak with. Law enforcement about south
many five year old, missing persons case. It's been so long and made my sister made a good brought up a point on a day like this case hasn't been revisited or visited in in twenty six years, and we actually went and sat down with the detective on the eighteenth, which is them which was monday, and they collected some dna samples from my art by bomb. and were all my uncle's fun n. It look like a ship in kind of sitting there like no one's ever even looked at the cave, and so my sister was wondering in owes its roots or self ever paul to follow
to see if there is any new leader, any new information on my uncle disappearance, though I dont know if they know one thing that not to see we haven't, we are able to make my family here and they haven't heard of eating her side of families should follow that happened according to the detective. It's now good, it's now an active case because he has been on the desk and because the dna samples appeared that they submit its name is so now. I can even speak to like what you might even know, which knows anything about us at all. I don't know we were there for about two hours, just talking over the case is me going over some question, as I do not have to ask. Is this well considered and active case, because at the time the report that I have here it says that it be it.
It's considered an inactive case, because there were no new leads that came in. He said that there was. This was not going to be an active case, not homicide, but it's a homicide case. It's now considered an active case. which was a relief to me because now I note that in the go ahead in not maybe follow up with these rules, if they're in california or maybe get some more interviews going, I think I think it went well. I hope that something does come up that I I don't know what that will be, but he very nice very attentive and he s a lot of questions, the families torn, between feeling that not enough was done when sound disappeared and grateful but there are now being heard for sale, siblings and that generation of family there hurt runs deep. It's a string,
of the younger family members that is pulling this back through to law enforcement. Once again, my dad wouldn't stick it to my father. You know my father lived with my mom role model with and interviewed at the time that there was a lot of people are like could have had good information. Oh sixth time. I no way I could have done anything about it, but I feel like there was a lot of good people that they could have talk to a lot of missed opportunities. They just didn't take it, but I'm hoping now that when we move forward with us that they will interview important people that were part of my uncle's life at the time peek into my uncles and stuff plus a little, frustrating just thinking. Looking at everything now in just looking power, I think how things could have been handled back that, but I don't think so that the be for now sounds family have thought about trying to contact Sophia because they suit desperately want to reconnect with her, but there their reservations. They don't what she's been told about them or her father, they fear
section or disrupting her life. I dont know I and even know how to approach reaching out to her like at just I'm like a nervous rack. Just thinking what I would say to her work, how I will and prostitution, she had no raoul. Would you consider it baby reaching out to her? I don't want you, I just I don't Now I don't want to hurt, may be the case. do you want to lose weight? With the cold case, detective sharing the families concerns over the case after twenty five years, the family, continue their search for answers, knowing their being listened to. It's john. When we know somewhat told about, did it here, he had to pay checks that warrant picked up
you know you know a good sum of money. Three and forty four hours and ninety seven cents for one and the other one for one hundred and twenty four hours and forty five sanch union acknowledges leave it there and go someplace else. I'm gonna want my money. Well, if I leave I'm gonna contact them and say you know it, can you send those checks to me? Well, I am they were involved. There were separate sal and her were separated time and she met him. She was trying to get custody back from from south in regard to their daughter, berkshire, show them papers and told them that you know I want a divorce, I'm pregnant with my boyfriend's baby and we're going to get married and supposedly she said the detectors back then, at the you know, he got very upset at at that news, which I don't think she'd be able at eight, that I think you would you want to move on. That's fine, but this is my daughter when you know,
of course, you right now and I'm to keep costly, shall she's the one that initiated the court action being. Was he had the custody, so she went out when he disappeared. She, I read it him and she gets her daughter idea. She just wants this whole thing to just go away. I think she thought she got it got while she hasn't gone away for twenty seven years. So I don't think she wants anything. Come back in our life right now right now on for she d get away with it and she's not at all We talk anybody about it to bring it up again, but the daughter might be a different avenue. because maybe daughter will want to think about who was my dad so the cold cases, actors believe that there is something to look into what does mean well. They need to prove it. Well, unfortunately, that right now. It's only consider the missing person, because there is no body We need like that and that's the problem. There also
you. Don't have anything from port authority. Police will have anything on camel. We don't have much of anything dns, a lot about the toll that sounds disappearance had on the family, her mom. has been living all of these years. Still hoping her brother will come home. My mom bunce, my uncle back, don't sheet. She says he's gonna, come all much to the no way how you gonna come home, but you have to come out. You know what I want to know where he is not knowing that so high. Knowing you like your brain scope to all these different blue says it's it's horrible, I dont,
My family is happy that that she is out there and she probably knows more than she she she has shared and we just want yeah. We want justice for my uncle one hundred percent. It's not it's not fair, that it's not right that all this time has gone by and and no one's been held accountable for. What's happened to my uncle and then you know, maybe maybe she has nothing to do with it, but you would think that after twenty six years you will just pick up the phone and follow up with the yonkers police department to see if any new information of combat come in. For you know the father of your daughter, obviously the door and lift for her. I don't think that she's done any of that. I don't think that she she's picked up the phone to see if, if there have been new leads, if my uncle's been found, you don't know none of that cuz after he disappeared or communication with her in that family feast,
that was that, never softly I get my grandfather passed away, not knowing who happened to sour. It's really sad meet me answers. What will happen to my uncle after all this time the family hopes for closure. If sound met with foul play, they would like to feel some sort of justice, but for now their desperate any form of answers as to what happened. They don't hold. Hope that he's alive somewhere they just want to be Able to move on knowing what happened, I would hope He is alive, but I don't feel confident I didn't know we should aim to disappear. He loved his daughter. He was going to what the shooting and there's no reason behind the disappear and not have any contact with any of his family members or his daughter who he loved dealey, and why do you know he was other family and why do not leave historiae but dorothy,
she was to use all the time and have a contract ever since ledges. Does it make sense? I don't think he's a bed father. You know where we would keep got it. No, I agree this whole thing. I think it is very suspicious. I will be looking at it It's just going to check me a little time. I and I I feel sorry for the whole family yeah. Absolutely you know you, you want to know what happened to your loved one, and it's just it said Any other thing here is you know I'm just hoping to be able to to tell the family. We found them, and you know not that nobody, not even what changes. But you know what sometimes people want to know what it The love one. Though in em and visit him down and now the holidays, venom any information and shall do please contact us here at the august police to bomb still, I went missing persons report and I would like to speak up Absolutely happen. A sour mirrors after he left that soccer game on September nineteenth. Ninety ninety three. We know that
intentions vertigo pick up sophia from his axe, but did he ever make it? There was he harmed because of that custody battle over his daughter, his car. later found in the parking lot at the airport was it there is a red herring or could he have walked away? So estranged wife, said she thought he went back to colombia. But I'll tell you this sound. not take his passport, his family, still has it? If you go search for information on south case. You aren't gonna find much his He seems to have slipped through the cracks almost like he never existed, but his family is hopeful This story will garner some fresh attention to his case, maybe someone out there does know something they aren't giving up. Hope even if they never solve cells case they would love to have a relationship with Sophia. When this case first landed on my desk back in october of two thousand and eighteen
didn't realize was that south case was inactive and had been for many years. The last notes in his file or from nineteen. Ninety five sal's case went cold and sat collecting dust. Sell disappeared in eighteen, ninety three and in two thousand eighteen, we of the yunkers police department and their one in only called case, detective took a look at the case and he be very interested in it. Now the cases difficult and I can't wait for him to solve it. If you have any information regarding sal's disappearance, please contact the yunkers police department at nine one for three, seven, seven, seven, seven, three one, I told you, I do coquet homicide, let you know just what you and wish you take you there. If something happens in vienna pursued it take. Take a while very frustrating
but unfortunately some of her much from back so long ago, my cases of your bag from twenty twenty five yes, which I mean I just wanna twenty is that you saw what it takes time and you take time locate people get and allow the traveller is trying to find a witnesses all over again and added new york anymore. They moved so the other day would call case you have to worry about. Is you know what my witnesses grade twenty years ago? But now he's sick? Now he you know he is blind or he moves like that and it's it's frustrating with the owner for eighteen years. So it's it's in my blood now the means so much to argue yeah. This is the most that we ve ever. I know that my committee has had gotten done in. I would point four years: it's crazy, it's so crazy.
But yeah. You know I want I wanna. I want to know what happened to my uncle. I want to bring the whole family needs to. I think that if you're going to be a really really big step in the right direction, that my uncle's keen story is out there, so people know about him know how great he was. The way that my family has destroyed my uncle you she's such a kind person or what to do with the care of his wife and his daughter, anti kid in the budget was good enough for
so yeah I don't. I don't know. I don't know what changed in her
