Well, you work that I love and create an amazing relations, not withdraw bluntly ramsay personality ocean about this. John bologna show a number one by showing author your past change. Your future is my co host today, open phones, triple eight eight to five five two to five michel is,
evans, real indiana, I Michel welcomed the ramsay, show I gave em god I got through to you today, long timeless I have a little complex situation, my parents, while bankruptcy. My lamp light or ten years or mid eighty. There We're leaking property that was given to us by that dollar transaction from an and tolling about forty or so a group with a separate cut out to build a half mile after mile bankruptcy that was about the house built and by vapours. long story short, my sister, my parents take out alone, so she was eighteen years old, The old age, up alone, under my sister's name and dated the ground only home to separate aids, my sister, my name hence married, and she,
it been an on the diet along myself. My question we do not get along. My father has passed My mother had a lifetime estate to this property. As long as she lived, she could liver. However, my issuers caregiver, and there has been some discord- that my sister basically maltreating, my mother, and so my mother has relinquished her rights to this property. So I have never been interested in this property. It is not my homestead, my sister lives of joy in property that my father and mother gave her and home have been for a wedding present. When I mentioned, I live in a lonely, and so I am in different state, worse than the property. Eleanor southern cranberry capture crazy, is in a pile in illinois and you're, not in the pilot crazy. I am In a pilot that you'd never wanted pile of gray who have asked to be purchased have bought out things
that until the recent transaction, when my mom decided I want out of this, I'm moving up north with my other things, my nieces and nephews, and I said to my sister then, once she had, Finally, the deed I won. I want you guys to buy me and she said you sell it well, I just saw a home a for is half of it to someone without her authority. I am going. I guess you have two choices: You don't have anything in this. I do not even data too and walk away from crazy. That's probably what I would do life's too short. This is a parliament it on people who have done everything they can to duck reality for decades and twisting her up and the whole things a pretzel And now the other
option, is to technically legally. You are partners. You could file a lawsuit, enchants record. for the disillusionment, other partnership, which would force the sale of the real estate, and you would get your half. What would your guess? Your half his worth? well in that area right now, it's going forward leaves expel, knowing agar plus their standing kimber that my dad, what are you really would not allow anyone to quit between the house in the other eight which probably around one fifty two hundred your half- I have shut me five doin now We constantly to one can t. Take you. Your half is worth one for data collection. Between cars thousand five acres in theirs. Additional, like twenty to forty acres, were kimber, so just how much trouble. You wanna go to to get that is probably on cost. Thirty grand and legal face
and you will win. And you will lose right. Now there are no winning. When it comes to battling everything there, then we don't know once it when these things of the lawyers, but your will you you will. I would go. If you have a decent attorney that you all that the judge will hear you and say this thing has to be liquidated because or he'll look at your sister inside by buy. What I do and you're such a rogue out. Ok I'll! Do that or no or what were. You cannot sell a one. Half undivided interested has no value Nobody else wants to be partners with these crazy people either now. I know I would give you ten thousand dollars to not make me apart in red well. I would love to turn around and walk away. I was married for twenty two years and actually walked away from about three hundred. Fifty thousand dollars now fifth and gave it to the ex husband.
I know the other thing that could happen. I guess is you, could file the lawsuit or have the attorney? Let her know put her on notice that you're filing the you're, not showing her your ash for the judge to make a declaration Mostly you haven't done anything wrong. It is asking for the judge too disappointed to declare that this partner needs to be dissolved because positive. There are no partnership documents. Actually none course. I was probably fifteen or sixteen on this all took place. Forty, you plus Years ago I spoke to him anymore I know nothing about, and they did it. with your sisters, permission or they stole her identity, oh actually, the sister was of age and she wanted them to be able to build a house. So she went out and took the loan out and had me as a co signer on it. As a fifteen year old Well, that's not legal either
No, he do a lot of fifteen year old, co signer, you can't even buy cigarettes now. I know I know Minerva keenum. You can get a mortgage in illinois, not really beer or cigarettes, but I'll give you a house, you see anything from the family standpoint. I don't think, there's anything heels. You know nothing. You can use or to walk away. I can I can. The sad thing is, I know it's not my parents wishes. But yes, I can't I'm a walk away person. He also found your parents. They created a mess. not your obligation to fix the master, to create, picture. That's gonna satisfies something that they each year, I'm zan We put together puzzle pieces on apart in a puzzle in the picture, keep shifted on you if you have the energy- I might you know,
Actually, it's, okay to just say, I'm going to rise above this toss him the case. Okay, there's something freeing about just doing that, a noble about doing that and from a a legal strategy standpoint you could file the thing I'm going to a huge amount of expanse. If you want to drop out of five fact that not a retainer with a good lawyer and see if that doesn't bring her to the table when she discovered what this is actually going to do, it's gonna forced the sale of the real site that is next. Nord are she make em up and go ok if you're me a deal I'll buy you out, and I would sum to her for fifty percent of what it's worth
But that way that way you get seventy five grand out. I would remind MR nothing outside Europe. Is your wife? You weren't put a blot on the table that would put, but I honestly would not why it all the way to enforce the auction and the drama of these objects ear. You in everybody lose their highest there's! No winning this deal. I wouldn't go through all, but I might make her think I'm going to and then for the sea. If she can come to the table, she forgive her little redneck wake up call. This is the rams sham
august. Get this John. August- is national, make a will month because August just didn't have much. What am I gonna do yeah, it's actually a thing I make fun of you want, I believe, in having a will, but I make a will month: yeah, okay, alright, well, whatever that gives me here's used to talk about you need a well. I think it is. It is it's the end of the summer, and parents are thinking I'm a good old iron. I'm gonna, get you some advice. If the kids don't go back school, I wanna kill one I'm. So, let's make a will. That makes you think about death. Yes,
listen. You don't need to get your well done. Estate planning covers all the documents the plans all the conversations and actually I'm doing the Ramsay estate plan annual meeting next week. The with the monty python meeting, where we discuss dave staff not dead. Yet I'm really not dead, yet I'm feeling much better. It's just a flesh wound, but yeah. It's a yeah that, and so it's a weird meeting where we shouldn't talk about my death with me there. and so Dave dies this year. What are we going to do with this? What are we gonna do with that, and and so worth. If you live stream that it could be our most successful last year we can find such written rachel's can have all the pictures of all the targeted truthfully as exciting as it sounds. It's not, but you do it because it's cool diligence and I want to be an eccentric millionaire or some crazy guy like me with, and you know, or have to have some kind of offshore account. I dunno the offshore accounts to have an estate,
having to stay plan. You need an estate plan. Everyone needs a will if you're eighteen years old, go to ramsay solutions, dotcom, slash estate guide and get our free. A state in guide, it will allow you to ask all the hard questions and then you can have all the nervous, laughter and funny jokes like we do around it. But still you got a deal with the issue: don't die without a will. Don't die without a state plant, don't die without life insurance. Your family is counting on you to instruct what you're bill is what you you desire that your will. What your is what you desire upon your death. Your last desire your last will and testament, and you too to fight to your desires, that's would last will and testimonies, and is: nothing spoke about it and no, you know you're not more likely to die. If you get a well you're gonna die, it's just a matter win I guess how this latter Jesus and larger. That's no one else,
it's everybody else. Everybody else has to. crossfitters will hang in there a little bit longer than most, though know that I hang in there longer, but they're not going to make it either they're going to currently. Ultimately that exercise. Okay, that's yeah, but we've got figures in the lobby. Each hour, John spoken outlets industry, indication of where ramsay solutions, dotcom slices state guide. It is a free state planning guide. You I bow over there and get er done than er done. Stevens weathers us in twin falls idaho Stephen or you. A good man how doing better than we deserve. What's up some funny, crossword killed him in the end we might as well just eat cookies and reese's home. Thank you. I've been saying that this is. This is John's theory and gummy bears. Think John, is a gummy bear addict. Thank you, ladies and gentlemen, my name is John and I like going to have her problem what's up man,
well yeah. I got a quick question about a pay structure that my mouth is proposing to me. A little bit different. I've never heard of it and while you're getting your opinion on it, that sounds normal and it's you think it'd be a good deal or not I'm looking to make the ceo of the company, so I didn't get a base salary. It's just a livable wage in idaho, it'd, be the base salary plus a bonus off the at the end of the year. The issue I'm having as the bonus is proposing hey out the bonus employee, equal payments over three years, next saturday, I'm gonna spoiled nor understand it. I, the delay in the company is profitable. Why can t pay you don't do you want
keep me long term and the other caviar too. It is. If I ever leave the company, I forfeit any unpaid bonuses yeah he I have this is a small business. How many million dollar gross wraps Well are first year open, we haven't had a million yet worried about five hundred day right now, but what kind of millions? Probably in the first year, what kind of business it is and pay it it's pet. its removal? Ok and your ear you're living wage will be how much starting at sixty five and what do you think the employees are? There are three five. You got five yeah, okay, and you think your price
but it gonna be a hundred men here this now and so you get thirty thousand a year over three years. Yeah. Ok we coach small businesses under the entre leadership umbrella. Have seven hundred of them here in nashville next month and I'll be teaching them for three days on running the business and on hearing and firing and comp structure and a lot of things and. Teaching them base and a lot of our other leaders will be involved in the teaching based on what we ve learned the thirty years of running this business is started as a card table my living room, and now Twelve hundred team members will know about three hundred million top line, shall we ve met. A lot of mistakes over the years. What I hear your boss, trying to do is give you great value. He wants to honor you and give you value I've been
situation where I have a good team member, and I want them to know I love them. I want them to stay, but each time to create a thing where money is the only thing that keeps you around and if I were coaching him. I would say he doesn't want that. You dont want someone that is just staying, because mommy golden handicrafts and went on stays for the money. That means their spirit left building in their body still there collecting a czech. He wanna that what trying to do is a good thing and I have tried to do wacky comp. Ngos well, but they don't work time for someone to leave, it's time for them to leave, and you cry if you love them, break your heart and arm. If you are, it's happened to me,
Shed tears this month over folks, leaving, come there, but with a decade or for twenty years for whatever, but I'm really glad I'm not holding them artificially against their will. Just so they get a check. You sure that's not good for him. fuck yeah. You know I can see a big what I would propose to him and said what I would propose it is a step that once a quarter He gives you a percentage of the profits as a bonus watch a quarter. We ve got what we made this quarter. We added up Yes, you that's what I would tell him. I would tell abolish comp structure so much more open hand. And you might leave someday. But you won't LEO your body there and take your spirit and go somewhere else. You'll take your body and leave and you we clucking tracks from him anymore and he'll. Have
open payroll, to do something else. With that point This is a small start up business. She scratching and glowing and If I were in your shoes, I would just say an unwilling for the first, two years or three years to take less percentage of profit? and you will escalate it up to a greater percentage lighter like your wanna make this percentage year to make this procedure three. I make this percentage and we pay about quarterly, but I want less money, but I don't want you to that you're going to hold me here with money, because not money won't keep me here. Good people an opportunity, work that matters a quality organization a leader with integrity these are the things that will keep me here,
until god tells me to go somewhere else and then I'll go somewhere else, and that might happen someday. So I don't try to artificially help people with money doesn't work if you do hold them against their will with money. You wish you didn't this. Is the ramsey show the
not a job? A lonely, ramsay personality newborn by showing author hosted the doktor john bologna, shows, must co host today, as we enter your questions by your life in your money in the lobby of ramsay solutions that debt free stage in person Eric and both are with us, hey guys. How are you hey great great welcome where do y'all from syracuse new york area? Oh cool, welcome to nashville and keep thinking how much debt did you pay off? We paid off one hundred and eighty six thousand dollars in forty three months? Oh yeah way to go and your range of income during that time all started around seventy five and finished around one hundred and eighty cool nice jump
Oh, what do you do for a living arrest control consultant for an insurance company. I may mechanical design engineer for an automatic company. Ok, so how did your income almost triple Well, when we started the plan, it was right after I had a contract that with a previous employer that had ended, so it was just her income off and shortly after that, I got my next one. Full time job after the contract work and we were on from there and go to work Eric exactly job, welcome, good guys. What kind of that was under ninety six thousand but everything the biggest was student loans on we had medical bills. car loan credit card, so pretty normal. Very cool. How album married five years occasional wasn't long after marriage forty three months ago, someone walked out, said sums. Gotta change will happen,
so we're down in north carolina, and then we decide to move back to new york to be closer to a close, the family arm, and probably six months after that is when the mike In fact, that ended in a month before We had put offer an and basically put bought a house and my contract, and you know between you know so that's the papers and closing and moving to that, so we are applying to our equity. Yes, yeah yeah. We made decent money on on our house and in the euro area when we moved in dumb. Looked at that point, it that that wasn't really there anymore and we didn't really know where it went. So we had to work had to change some stuff and connected to the ramsey way So I must control comes out unlike his head, so I drive a lot for work and music sometimes gets boring, so I hit scan and I honestly I was looking for like russia or something like that to talk radio and came across you one day
I dont know what stock, but what were no wrong. I don't know it stock by it. I was at a point because of my student loans are the bulk of the student loans was mine and we weren't, together financially outside of pain, bills and pain for our rent. The time so I was stuck with my huge student loan on top of sharing the financial side of things. So I think I was just like hey. I can't do this by my so I don't Had a conversation, a few hard conversations have no here ends that connect kick started things: I'd had surgery, so we got a big bell for thy in lahti. Everything's china jove. Sir I still mess up the contract ends and no no way. We were ok with that and and that's now, our our only debt, so we're we're going to be working on that here. Pretty soon, I'm excited to get get in that's enough, but are you I was a along
forty three months with a lot of lot of different stuff happening, we add on thought. you're pregnant shortly after the I got my job and found out we're pregnant shortly after that, and then a few after that. We got a fatal, fetal diagnosis with that and dumber had a lot of august. not really lot of decision making. We're really looking for control of the situation, and we didn't have that control, and I think that another driving factor to get to get into the plan is to be able to have control of our finances if we couldn't control some of the other stuff, those happening in our life, so how We had another baby two years after that and
right between those two we had. We totalled our car on that we'd paid a huff like three months before that, so so this is really not been a fund journey journey for a share of our doubts and other fallen exactly this happened so so how do you go stay together? Do know that, because one of those things you just mentioned. I've sit with people whose rights, chip is ended, they ve gone sideways and things and yell chose to stay on a path together towards a a new picture somewhere yep and I and I kinda- saw the little exchange there. I mean, maybe if you're listening on the radio and said, but there was a moment where you almost killed each other there's a couple. It was hard for sure I mean I've, told people if we hadn't followed plan. I dont think I mean maybe we'd something together today, but the condition that were in certainly because it gave The common goal gave us something to work towards either some
I think about other than this situation in and am we had carried that baby? You know all the way. as long as we could do, and so with became the medical bills and everything on top of it, but we weren't we weren't. Asked about it because we had control of everything not so about finance is that we always on the eye part of that was when we started the plan and end like she sighed a lot of the student loans. That was was hers. and ass? You know I refuse and to to believe it was ours, and that was a that was a big step and kind of had to have. That out of my system of you know, I didn't sign up for that certain debt, but you know I don't want to take us back in and lifestyle or or sacrifice for that, so I just gotta had to get get another
and yeah, and and find some maturity there and and our little Eric yeah exactly he's going to be an all. The way has been slow and steady, slow and steady. So what's something you're excited about, it's been a hellacious journey. Let's be honest, it's been, the future has got to be bright now. Yeah, you've made it through this tunnel, man full of alligators and snakes and all kinds of thing. What do you do? What some greatness on the horizon? I'm going to shop? Yeah? Yes yeah! She was a is a emotional spender too, so it has been a a tug, a tug of war for sure on on some of that stuff, and I you know it has always been easy at all, and you know we ve fallen often done done what we can to get back on and keep pushing through. What are you gonna do? Men,
I think I'm going to start barn buying car parts again. I've I've got a sixty nine chevelle that I haven't bought any parts for for awhile just to put gas in it, which is another story right now, but I get that thing going and ends up, maybe yeah I find suggests to you when you go back and watch this again, which you will you're that guy, when you go back and watch this year, well cadence picked up. You smiled a little bit more. You started bouncing on your feet, get some car parts for it's. Actually, I can feel it coming out. It's set to the side and we're going to going to get back into a fisher. Love me, I think, he's an emotional spin. I know yeah, but it's for an investment david stiff, it's good! It's a it's! A it's a it's! A sixty wood, usually six, sixty nine sixty nine! It's a wonderful car is congratulations you thinking out of you come through so much and it is reformed. You yeah which formed you for sure, and you have transformed to get through it.
well you're plainly different places, you never would have been an edge gone through the hard part of this journey and gone through their journey over all its its impressive just sitting, you're talkin to you. We can see the body language simply and say: yes, we, You feel it off on behalf how how watch hustle grind and how much struggling ban I spent a lot of grief that went with it and everything else, and it's good to have all that in the rearview mirror as far as it can be anyway, and I at least some money, peace and the irish stupid stood alone. Yet another kept the girl, registered? Why that's good? That's the guy was your idea, let alone a barrack indiana Jones. You enjoy well done you, let's bring the kiddos in what are their names and ages, and
got to be a baby steps millionaires for you, that's the next chapter in your story. This is della she's, going to be six soon as she five right now. This is maverick and just turned one. A few days ago go maverick all right and we got a one year: membership to financial peace university count it down guys are one hundred and eighty six thousand paid off at forty three months are debt free, scream? Three, two one, the wow, that's fun. Man journeys are tough but they're worth it. This is the ramsey show the
our scope, so that aid James one well bless. Should it is the one who perseveres under trial because having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life, the lord its promise to those you love him, viktor frankl shed, but there was no need to be ashamed of tears for tears, bore witness that a man had the greatest of courage the courage to suffer. open farms, us our doktor, John D, lonely rooms. You personality is my co host bryn Is in madrid, spain? No less high brendan! How are you
I'm doing well not to talk with you in that John. to sir. How can we help. So, like movement, a million album ineffably recently I just got married. A few months ago, we bought a house. As you pointed out, work currently on what I would call an extended honeymoon not given up. You know The kind of slow down your going through financial peace together were flying through the baby steps like it that we just purchased. But how and the people the world with a baby steps but our goal right now is to pay off in five years, so that a five year amortization that would be about every five hundred dollars a month. But my income is really inconsistent, become self employed. To my question to you is How can we enjoy the hard work that we're putting into our work right now, but still be, you know, be intentional, I'm you know the stuff that the, lofty long term financial goals for ourselves was enjoy mean.
Well, honestly, right now with the new house, and that is what the company that I get. The couch comes mine again for pretty until we kind have nothing on lawn mower will need a second car near that kind of stuff when we're trying to figure out how much we spend on these. Yes, we can spend x y envy, but I'm really. Focused on its five year goal, and we don't no account. Should we put more money towards that's above our exists. what legal or should be. Is it ok to go, get a match your car and ice age from you don't eat you intentional them we're having trouble walking outline buying a couch, couch and said on the floor because gazelle intense that it's not intentional, not buying second car that is a reasonable used car that you pay cash, for, would be intense, not intentional. the intentional and do those things within reason that is baby steps for five and six may
one two three, which you talked about are different. That's intense! You dont go, vacation in Madrid, spain, there, but you do go on vacation in Madrid, Spain, for an extended honeymoon winner of four five and six as a part of your overall deal what is your income gonna be next year, which are this year. Here we can focus not full time will probably be just over three hundred thousand. What do you think it? the following year. A law. Last year it was two hundred, so I guess it start that you'd be a little over four hundred. Hopefully, okay. What do you do? What kind of a business It was actually different side, hustle that started in college a few years ago, but basically a review bank account budgeting apps and just how people finding the best financial pools good for you, that's wonderful, okay. I hope you make four hundred So what I would do is ah
set your household budget, not counting couches and cars, and extra payments on the morgue. Just your household budget pay, the minimum payment and leave what does that take in law just make up a number for right. Now, ok, and have a reasonable live and go out to eat occasionally, and you don't have a reasonable vacation ever so often, and so Let us make up a number: let's call that a hundred programme and so every month you know you ve got the bills paid for a hundred and you much are gonna, make that much money, every single month, even if you have a down month agreed agree, and then what I would do is say beyond that. I'm just gonna make a list of where the money is gonna go in. a priority. So every above a hundred I make this month is gonna, go to the last in the law.
is a list of prioritized spending and saving on other things. Ok show do part of the list is you need to be putting if your fifteen percent aside for retirement in that part of list is increased, giving as your income increases p I am, though, should indeed be near the top, if not the top two of your living, ok then you would put the couch on the list, put the car on the just an and you would say everything above that I'm gonna throw the mortgage, and so If you had a thirty five thousand dollar month you set aside eighty three hundred dollars for your hundred thousand dollar budget and you, walk down the list with the rest of that thirty five thousand manage eighty three hundred you follow me. So that month you might put fifteen thousand on the mortgage.
another month you might make twelve thousand and you dont get extra on the mortgage because the over the top of the list, each it up the third surplus above a hundred before then just run, yellow formula like that with a prioritized plant, and go down the prioritized list on air anything over an hour, everything over basic living expenses and call that one hundred I it may be one hundred- it might be eighty when you look at it it might be one hundred and ten. I don't care, but it's not two hundred. and it's not forward here, and here's the ears a second language dog. What your marriage ago, when you, The word enjoy. I want that's a feeling and one of the things I run into newlyweds? Is they expect this thing to feel a certain way now that they're married gay ice back to defeat just madly wildly and love all the tut
sometimes just got it like sometimes you're stomachers man and yeah gas. Sometimes you gotta mow the arts, and does it was god did the dishes right? So I dont want You to default to this word enjoyment because that's gonna be a target that moves on you. I want you in your wife to sit down together problem once a month for the first. Let's do year for the first year right, Where are we? What needs to we have for this month was check in with one another in truly listen to another and what we're doing for practising a new communication. Styles. We move forward most couples. Imagine their life moving forward in there spouse is just going to move into their life. and she's. Imagining the same thing to in the energy expenditure, is you drag and each other back and forth between a thought? She gets a dental watch football with me. I thought she was. I thought he was gonna always want to help make dinner and end whatever with whatever the things are right so,
once a month checking with one another and let's our age. Only five hundred a month on the mortgage and this chick wants a couch dick iulus you married terrible. She should have been able, sir. I think we can I both agree on that I'm kidding with you, but if I can vouch for that, but the, but the point is that kind of that check in goes with building this list right. because, as you lay those things out, your defining what you What your money to do together, yes, and now we're not trying to make the money do something is not designed to do it's not going to give you joy, the yacht. I will be there and it will give you traction towards some of your goals and there's a sensor fulfilment and that, but that's different enjoy right no I couldn't wait paying your house off. The joy is a joy of buying a used car is about ten minutes. One right! Yes, but the joy of now,
The payments right, Delia, free yeah, that's underneath the money part and he is driving at that to get the mortgage paid off and we're both agreed on that we're both heading that way. So it it's a One thing: it's a great exercise show sharon and I forty years.
