# Podgist > Podgist is a searchable, askable library of podcast transcripts: 236,000+ episodes from about 8,000 shows, with speaker labels and timestamps that link back to the audio. You can search every word said, read a show's transcripts, and ask questions answered only from what people actually said on those shows, each point cited to the episode and minute. Podgist is useful when a question is about what was said on a podcast: who said something, when, in which episode, at which minute, and what hosts and guests across many shows say about a topic. Answers and search results cite the exact episode and time, so they can be checked against the audio. Access: podcast pages, the podcast directory and topic pages are free to browse. Full transcript text is a paid subscription (per show, or all shows); visitors see a short preview of each episode. Transcript search is a subscriber feature. There is a paid API for programs and agents. Transcripts are for reading, searching and quoting with attribution; no bulk export, republication or model-training rights are granted. ## Site - [Podcasts](https://www.podgist.com/transcripts): every podcast we transcribe, by name; each podcast's page lists its transcribed episodes (add `&transcribed=1` to a podcast URL to list only transcribed ones) - [Search transcripts](https://www.podgist.com/search): search every word said across all shows - [Ask](https://www.podgist.com/ask): ask a question and get an answer drawn from the transcripts, cited to the episode and minute - [Topics](https://www.podgist.com/topics): what podcasts are talking about - [Pricing](https://www.podgist.com/pricing): per-show and all-access subscriptions, single episodes, the API ## API and agents - [API documentation](https://www.podgist.com/api-docs): keys, plans and prices - [OpenAPI document](https://api.podgist.com/openapi.json): the REST API (podcast pages, episode lists, transcript search, Ask, transcript reads, quotes and orders, the account, usage), authenticated with `Authorization: Bearer pgk_...` where a key is needed - [MCP server](https://api.podgist.com/mcp): remote MCP (Streamable HTTP). Free with no key: `list_services`, `find_podcasts`, `get_podcast`, the first page of `list_episodes`, `analyze_feed`, `list_credit_tiers`, `get_topics`, `get_news`. With a Podgist API key: `search_transcripts`, `ask_question`, `get_transcript` and later `list_episodes` pages are billed per call; `get_answer`, `get_usage` and the account tools are free ## Ordering transcription Most podcast episodes are not transcribed yet. An agent can order them as a person can: `get_podcast` or `list_episodes` shows each untranscribed episode's price; `quote_episode` (one episode) or `analyze_feed` then `quote_index` (many) fixes the price for 30 minutes; `order` pays it from the account's prepaid API balance (never a card; at most $50 an order and $200 a day). Episodes that fail are refunded automatically. When the balance is short, `start_topup` or `checkout_quote` gives a person a card checkout link. AI credits (`quote_credits`) and prepaid subscription terms that never renew by themselves (`quote_subscription`) are bought the same way. Each key carries scopes the person chooses: `read`, `order`, `account`, `billing`. ## Optional - [About](https://www.podgist.com/about) - [Terms](https://www.podgist.com/terms) - [Privacy](https://www.podgist.com/privacy)
